Flinders Ranges Photo Essay

In September 2022 we explored southern Flinders Ranges with my brother’s family over 3 nights/4 days. My brother and his family were doing a six week caravan trip from Queensland to Victoria via Broken Hill and South Australia. We showed them a few of the highlights in Broken Hill over the weekend of 10 – 11 September before we left to go to Flinders Ranges. … Continue reading Flinders Ranges Photo Essay

the moments that are given to us

After dinner tonight I left the plates on the bench and walked outside to continue harvesting and pruning my lavender bush. I started this a couple of days ago. I think I may have also abandoned the dishes on the bench that lunchtime and let them rest. There will be dishes and dirt continually. Far West Tour July 2022

We’ve just returned from a 4-day/3-night trip through far west New South Wales town of White Cliffs, Wilcannia and Menindee. Ann Evers’ Home exhibition

On a cool Friday afternoon I found myself with a few hours spare and a husband to look after the kids. I went to the Broken Hill Art Gallery to see Ann Evers’ exhibition, Home. It was an awe-inspiring afternoon of noticing and delighting in how Ann has elevated the arid landscape around Broken Hill. The synopsis of the exhibition on the Broken Hill Art … Continue reading Ann Evers’ Home exhibition

A knitted jumper…by me!

I started to learn to knit about two years ago when we were living in Canberra with some friends. After making a beanie with the help of a friend, I decided to embark on making this Bendigo Woollen Mills pattern PT8472. I got about 90% finished and then life happened. We moved to Broken Hill and had a baby and I was preoccupied with other … Continue reading A knitted jumper…by me!

Summer in the Garden

As the state is going through a heat wave this weekend, it’s time to stay indoors and enjoy the evaporative cooling. Here in Broken Hill the temperature is supposed to get to 41°C today and 43°C tomorrow. It’s a good time to write something on the blog. Exactly a year ago today we were in Broken Hill looking at properties to buy and the house … Continue reading Summer in the Garden
